India is my favourite country to travel. I first went in 2006, then again in 2012. I love how big it is, the diversity in languages, food, cultures. It is a shock to your Westernised Colonial mindset, a mirror that reflects back your deep set ways of believing and acting. If you submit to the chaos, then beauty and generosity unfolds. When I travel there I just go with it, letting whatever is meant to be, be. I took these photographs way back in 2012, which seems like a lifetime ago. I’m still so proud of them and too this day think it’s some of my best work yet. I’m so grateful to all the wonderful people I met who invited me into their lives and asked me to photograph them.
